Up till now Nikon included a free 16GB Sony XQD card and a reader (aprox. $185 value) with every D4 shipment. This seems no longer to be the case and  the last Nikon D4 shipments do not include any freebies. The other bad news is that so far I have not heard about another major manufacturer to jump on the XQD wagon. I do consider myself as a good marriage material. I am kind, understanding, I keep telling girls they don't look fat and patiently wait in a shoe store while my better half is trying 27th pair of shoes. The eye contact with the fellow sufferer is priceless. I am not that fat, I don't drink that much and I gave up smoking, shall we say quite successfully, more than a year ago. And now the best bit, I love cooking. As I've said, the dream. So what are the cons to all this?

  • Street photography

    24 Apr 2012 | 8:12 am
If we want to talk about "street photography" we must talk about Henri Cartier-Bresson (left) and the old photograph taken in 1932 somewhere in France, with a man about to get his shoes quite wet on it first. Why? Because it is a mother of all streets photographs same as Henry Cartier-Bresson is basically a founder of this ever so popular photography style. All definitions of street photography, which could be possibly worded, are in that picture. Nothing and no one can describe what the street photography is about better, as this photo and two words: "decisive moment".

Nikon have issued a recall of certain lots of EN-EL15 batteries, used in the D800/D800E, D7000, and Nikon 1 V1. The battery pack can experience a short circuit causing it to overheat and possibly causing the outside casing to become deformed, posing a potential hazard to consumers. Only a tiny number of users have reported this problem, and it only affects batteries with the letter "E" or "F" as the 9th digit of the battery 14 digit serial number, as pictured below. If your battery is affected, Nikon will send you a free replacement by calling Nikon USA at 1-800-645-6687

Sling bag is compact but swings around to allow easy access to your camera Sling-style camera bags have become popular lately as they enable you to carry your camera with the ease of a backpack while offering quick and easy access to your equipment without having to take your backpack off. Case Logic's SLRC-205 bag (price US $50 - $80) is one of the more inexpensive sling bags on the market, and after using it for a few days, I've happily incorporated it into my ever-increasing collection of DSLR camera bags (a photographer can never have too many camera bags I always say!). • Before I Jump Off The Balcony ...

    Sakkasie
    16 May 2012 | 12:22 am
... in sheer frustration, I have a question to ask. I hate asking questions. I'm taking a course and one of the projects is to take a photo illustrating "selective focus." So here is the picture I took today. This flower was in the shade (it was the only one I could find at the time) and it was a teeny bit windy. I was using my 35mm f/1.8 lens. EXIF data tells us that the exposure was 1/400, aperture was f/1.8 and the ISO was 200. I've got the blurring part down OK but the flower itself is definitely not sharp enough. Shutter speed not fast enough? Not enough light? Mercury gone…

Ok, so I was thinking today. I know, something I shouldn't do too much. It was that time of the week where ideas sprout up be they good or terrible. Let's look at a properly exposed image. Let's say the image was shot on aperture priority mode. Let's also assume that the shooter ONLY cares about a properly exposed image, no fancy crap like, "oh, i want this aperture, buuut, I also want to blur the subject..." No. None of that creative bullcrap here. Let us only assume we are looking at proper exposure for a moment, we can all be creative later. So. In this particular shot, the…

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and I just had a quick question. I recently noticed that the colour I'm getting on my d700 lcd in very different from what I'm getting my my computer screen. What I get on my computer screen looks great and my prints from my local shop come at great too. But the lcd is way off. I've looked through the menus and can't seem to find a setting to adjust only the lcd colour and not have that effect the actual file. Thanks guys, Barry
